Dinner is Ready Review and Giveaway
One of the tasks I absolutely hate is meal planning. I hate thinking about what I need to buy at the store, I HATE grocery shopping. I hate thinking about what is going to be for dinner each day. Fishing update…didn’t go. Another day and I still don’t have my trout. I already informed my daughter she is going with me tomorrow night. She tried to debate that because she doesn’t want me to get my trout. I hate to tell her…it’s happening regardless :-).

Twitter and I have an issue. The program has stopped me from following anymore Tweeters until I get more followers. Personally, I think this is absurd, but there’s nothing I can do….so I would say, this most definitely isn’t my social app of choice.

Personally, I am an avid purchaser of store brand products for several reasons. One reason is they are often much less costly than the brand names. I also know the brand names often are the makers of the store brands. And, I have found store brands are just as effective as national brands. Basically, if the store has their brand available…I’ll buy it.
My most recent encounter for needing an over the counter health product was when I had strep throat. Not only was I blessed with strep throat; I was blessed with my allergies acting up. So when I was filling my scripts at Walgreens, I decided I would get myself an allergy med. Normally my insurance covers allergy meds, but I hadn’t called for a script, so I was on my own if I wanted relief any time soon.
In looking at the choices available, I ended up choosing Walgreens Wal-Itin 24-Hour Allergy Relief Tablets; one of Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products. These would cost me a mere $13.99 for 30 tablets compared to the cost of $15.99 for 10 tablets of Claritin that offered the same relief. Plus, they weren’t all that much more had I used my insurance – given my co-pay.
However, that being said, I always ask the pharmacist their thoughts on my choice before purchasing. He told me the same active ingredients in Claritin are in Walgreens Wal-Itin 24-Hour Allergy Relief Tablets. He recommended I give the product a try. I was told if I wasn’t happy, Walgreens offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Good enough. I’ll take their brand.

Mypoints.com offers many opportunities to earn points, which can then be redeemed for different items, including gift cards. When shopping (clicking) through their site to the store you are making your purchase at you will earn points for each dollar spent. Points per dollar vary from store to store. I recommend downloading and using the My Points toolbar as you earn points for searching the web through their toolbar. Opting in to receive their emails (you must click on the advertisement in order to receive credit) will earn you 5pts each or more if you sign up for an offer. Printing and redeeming coupons each month will earn you points. I have cashed in points for itunes gift cards and restaurant cards without incident. At the time of this positing (1/15/11), I have over 32000 points available to cash in on when I am ready to. The points truly add up fast if you work the program. Update: Since 1/15/11 when I had 32,000 pts., I now have over 34500 pts., and honestly, that increase is not from shopping and clicking thru their site.
On another note…my goal this week is to catch me a trout. We can count day one (Monday) as being a no-go. I had bites but NOTHING took my hook :-(. My daughter’s father…he was blessed to catch a horn pout. I don’t foresee me catching anything tomorrow either. It’s suppose to rain. Maybe the sky will change its mind and I can go for a couple of hours. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Pa said when I catch me a trout…he’s gonna cook it the way he saw on Food Network….I think he’s jinxed me!

How fun! I remember the Geoffrey from Toys ‘R Us calling my daughter on her birthday. She thought she was quite the young lady to be having him call her to say Happy Birthday. If I had only had this potty training tool around when she was small, maybe she would have stayed with the potty training longer. She was almost two and began to use the potty…then she decided that wasn’t going to be the case…point blank. Okay then, I got sick of stressing over it and next thing I knew…she decided shortly after she turned 3 that she was going to use the potty all the time.

How many times has this happened, you are shopping online, get to the checkout and don’t make the purchase? I used to be that way all the time.
