Upromise members have received more than $600 million in college savings through their rewards program.  In light of their 10th anniversary, Upromise is giving away $20,000 – their way of celebrating with you how their program has helped “make children into the people they are today and the adults they will become tomorrow.”
Share your story of how you’ve supported a child’s dream for your chance to win.  Ten participants will receive $1,000 and a grand prize winner will receive $10,000.
To participate:
  • Submit your dream at  www.upromisetodream.com.
  • Vote for your favorite stories by “liking” them.
  • You can read the official rules at:  dream wall official rules
I would like to share the dream I submitted:
I have wished since my daughter was born for her to be able to attend college – earning a degree in what she chooses.  I want her to be able to be self-sufficient, so I hope that she chooses a career, which will pay her a good salary, with the opportunity to advance in her field.  I never want her to have to count on someone else to support her through life.

Bankruptcy is tricky because it’s so involved.  There’s so much information to learn about and to absorb. It’s essential you are well informed of all your options.  You need to know how it’s going to effect your life and/or your family’s life.  Maybe you already know the ins and outs.  However, do you know how to go about choosing a good bankruptcy attorney?

You need to find an attorney that is willing to start right at the beginning with you and one that is going to have your best interest at heart.  Don’t be afraid to ask if they (the attorney) offer a free consultation; more often than not, you will find they will. Take a notebook and go hear what has to be said, writing down what is of importance.  The attorney needs to give you all your options, including if the attorney can help you get out of debt without filing for bankruptcy.  Certainly, you’d want to take that route over ruining your credit worthiness for 7 – 10 years.  If that’s not an option, then you will want to be able to make an informed decision on if it would be best for you to file bankruptcy under chapter 7 or chapter 13.

So, whether it be you need to learn about what bankruptcy will do for you, or which option is best for you –  it’s all about being informed. Cary Bankruptcy Attorneys can help you sort it all out.

In the event, you were unaware; a new law was enacted in 2005 that requires one to take a credit counseling course before filing for bankruptcy.  This course must be completed by an agency approved by the United States Trustee’s office in the area one lives.  One also must take a debtor education course before their bankruptcy is final.  Start Fresh today can help you accomplish meeting your filing requirements.

Start Fresh Today is an approved online turn-key solution for fulfilling bankruptcy requirements; such as, the credit counseling course one is required to complete.  Start Fresh Today is not a credit counseling agency; rather they work together with attorneys, credit counseling agencies and consumers to make meeting BAPCPA compliance easier.  What this means to consumers is that it’s an alternative to traditional classroom courses.  All the requirements needing completion per law when filing for bankruptcy can be completed on their website.

Walmart is bringing back their layaway plan for the holidays.

Here are the details:

  • Program begins on October 17th
  • Customers must spend at least $50 to sign up for layaway
  • Each item has to be priced at $15 or more
  • Customer pays a $5 fee plus puts 10% down
  • Payments and item pick up must be completed by December 16th, or pay a $10 cancellation fee
This is a better alternative than putting your purchases on a credit card with a high interest rate.  Personally, my game plan would be to buy all my higher ticketed items early and pay for them accordingly using the layaway plan.  The little stuff can always be purchased later.  I hate seeing a huge bill come in after the holidays.  It’s just so depressing!

Make it a great day!
