 Dinner is Ready Giveaway

One of the tasks I absolutely hate is meal planning. I hate thinking about what I need to buy at the store, I HATE grocery shopping. I hate thinking about what is going to be for dinner each day. I hate preparing meals. In addition, I am not overly fond of eating the same foods week after week. Anyone have the same or similar issues?  If you do, I may have the perfect solution for you.

I was given the opportunity to test drive 30 Meals in One Day’s “Dinner is Ready.”  What a program! I am sure you get that the idea of the program is to make 30 meals all in one day, but this isn’t set in stone. You can modify the program to your needs.  The way the program is structured I am sure this is possible if you have the time. However, when I went to make all the meals I had chosen, I didn’t get no 30 meals made for the mere fact that I was interrupted a hundred times over that day.  I will not let this discourage me from trying again…I just need a better game plan.  On a good note, I have at enough ingredients to make all the meals, minus any basic staples such as milk, for the next 3 weeks.

Dinner is Ready contains over 150 freezer-worthy dinner recipes in the software. The book is packed full of helpful hints and tips on bringing this all together and recipes. And an extremely user friendly User’s Manual for the software. Let me break this all down for you:
  • There are loads of recipes for you to chose from and these recipes can be modified based on your serving needs. I actually modified many as I have one big eater in the house and I need enough to pack a lunch the next day for my son. Looking for a recipe not on the list…they’ve got you covered! You can add your own recipes to your menu.
  • The software recipes can be categorized in such a manner where they are displayed by how they are prepared.  For instance, on the Stovetop, Slow Cooker, Oven, and straight to the freezer after assembling the dish (some require cooking in the aforementioned manners before freezing).
  • Once you’re done with that task, you can then create a shopping list.  The list includes all the ingredients from your chosen recipes (including the recipes you’ve added).  You are able to customize the list by deleting items on the list in the event you already have some, or in the event you need to buy something not on the list, you can add them. One thing this program doesn’t do, which I wished it did, is pair the meal with suggestions of a side dish.  I would recommend one to go through their recipe choices when doing their grocery list, so you can add what you would like as a starch and/or a vegetable so you can purchase these during the same shopping trip.
  • When you are satisfied with your list…print it! The list will print out in such a manner where the food items are categorized by where you’d find the item in the grocery store…i.e. frozen, dairy, baking and so on.  I loved shopping by the list…this worked out very well for me.
  • Shop but don’t put all away…you’ll be using it very soon (refer to the book on step-by-step organization of what you’ve bought).
  • Print out the recipes.  They print two to a page and left side shows the ingredients; right side the directions and are the size of an index card.
  • Now the fun begins…time to prepare your dishes…again refer to the book…you’ll be glad you did.
  • Once you’ve got your dishes done, they are now ready to freeze.  Labels are easily printed from the program for you to be able to slap on each Ziploc or container…that by the way, will show     on your grocery list…letting you how many of each are needed.
  • All there is to do now is to chose which dish you want for supper, thaw and finishing cooking.
In need of more meal solutions?  Two other products are sold to complete the task of mealtime beside  Dinner is Ready. These are: Lunch is Ready and On the Side. One can purchase just the book, or the book and software for any of their products, just the software, or add to a program you already have via the web (download).  Alternatively, you can purchase the entire set. Labels are also sold for inkjet and laser printers.
