TraffickCam – Your Hotel Photos Can Help Locate Perpetrators of Sex Trafficking

It feels good to be able to make a difference. You can help make a difference – a difference in a child’s life – with a simple, free, application installed on your phone, tablet, or PC (no app needed), called TraffickCam.

TraffickCam’s Mission:

TraffickCam was created in 2015 by the Exchange Initiative. Their mission is to combat commercial sexual exploitation of children in the United States.

You Ask:

What is required of you that can help this cause?

Install the free app on your device, or on a laptop – upload directly on their site.
Allow the app/site to have access of your physical location.
Enter the name of the hotel and your room number
Snap up to four (4) photos of the hotel room you’re staying at and then upload them to their platform.

Once photos are submitted, they are made available in a database for law enforcement. Law enforcement can search the photos against photos they’ve received/found online of where sex trafficking has taken place to locate the perpetrators.

What exactly am I taking photos of? These angles are recommended:

Two (2) pictures of the entire room from different locations
One (1) picture of the bed from the foot of the bed
One (1) picture of the bathroom from the doorway

You live your life in the best way you know how.

You go to work each and every day, pay all of your bills on time (or at least attempt to depending on your financial means), and raise your family to the best of your ability.

These would all be what most people would identity as “normal” behavioral patterns.

Despite doing all those positive things, you find yourself one day in one heck of a financial mess.

Why is that?

Turns out, someone else is not playing by the rules.

He or she is taking the shortcut to make their lives better, leaving you holding the mess.

It also translates into identity theft, something that both authorities and most consumers for that matter are left to deal with in its aftermath.

So, are identity theft thieves keeping an eye on you?

How to Fight Back

While you may do everything by the book in terms of your financial life, it does not mean that you are entirely protected from those looking to make your life miserable.

That said there are some precautions you can take to try and lessen or even altogether remove the odds of you becoming the next identity theft victim.

To start off with, are you inadvertently leaving your online world or your public world outside your home vulnerable to attack? If so, why is that?

Simplify Your Meals

A meal doesn’t need to be complicated in order to be healthy. Make things easier on yourself by preparing simple lunches like lean meat and leafy greens on whole wheat bread. If you’re not a big fan of wheat bread or veggies like kale or spinach, try adding a guilt-free spread to the sandwich to spice things up. Mayo doesn’t have to be packed with calories, fat, and cholesterol. There is a healthy alternative available, made by Hampton Creek. Dedicate Time to Meal Prep

Take the Stairs

It can be hard to find enough time to exercise, but there are simple ways to sneak more in. If you work in an office building that has several floors, skip the elevator and take the stairs. Take some time to build up your fitness, and take a break on each flight if needed. If your building doesn’t have several floors but you’re still hoping to log more steps, take a break once an hour to walk a lap around the building. Getting your blood pumping will help to give you an extra boost of energy if you fall victim to feeling tired in the afternoon.
