We hear about product recalls on food, drugs, animal health, medical devices, cosmetics and more  on the news quite often – surely more often than we’d like.  But did you know that there is a specific website where you can find out intricate details on product recalls?

The FDA lists all the current recalls on products that are FDA regulated.  The date of the recall, the product description and the reason for each recall on the FDA website.  You’ll find press releases of the recalls and photos (if available), pertaining to each recall as well.  They make it easy for you to look for something in a specific category by having a tab for food, drugs, animal health etc.  If you’re looking to see if a specific product is somewhere on their list, use the search feature.

One will also find on their site Major Product Recalls.  These would be on products that need expanded coverage due to the impact they have on human health.

The FDA makes it super easy to stay up-to-date on the latest recalls by offering to email you when they come out. And if you have an Android phone you can utilize their Android Phone app.

Visit the FDA’s webpage on recalls at: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm
