Rod Stewart’s new “Time” album will hit the shelves on May 7, 2013 – the first album released in almost 20 years. I have to say – it’s as good as the very first Rod Stewart album that I listened to over forty (40) years ago.  That’s right – we are once again dating myself but that is okay.  I’ve moved on in time just as Rod Stewart has. And I have to tell you a secret!  His hairstyle hasn’t changed one bit; and ironically, neither has mine!)

I know it’s pretty sad that he and I have the same hair styles we did 20 years earlier regardless – you can count on Rod’s new album to have the same rock style it did back 20, 30, 40 years ago.  That’s right – Rod has been producing albums for 40 years and has been a dad for 30 years.  His voice, his lyrics are still as good as ever – some things never change.

About “Time”

You’ll find the “Time” album to contain 12 new songs – 11 of which he wrote and produced.

The album was born from a burst of inspiration that came while Rod was reviewing his life for his recent memoir. Rod rediscovered his voice as a songwriter and rekindled his gift for writing the honest, nerve-touching narratives that have been the cornerstone to the first three decades of his career.

“Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head,” he says. “Next thing I knew, I had a song called ‘It’s Over’ about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn’t done, and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record.”

My favorite song from the album is Time.  This song has so much meaning behind it.  Time really doesn’t wait for anyone – we never know what the next minute in our lives will bring or the next day – we just never know.  He wants people to know that you can’t waste time.  And if you’re experiencing a breakup of any sorts – you may find comfort in all the songs on this album.
