Hop to the Music Review & Giveaway

4 Disney Soundtrack CDs

disney hop to the music giveaway

There aren’t many people in this world who don’t like Disney in some fashion.  Heck, I’d be surprised if there was anyone that didn’t like a Disney Movie, Ice Show, book etc.  I know our family loves Disney and we were thrilled when we learned we were going to be receiving the four soundtracks from the movies – Into The Woods, Frozen, Junior Shuffle 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy to review, and give away the same Hop to the Music pack, to one of our treasured readers.

Into the Woods 2-Disc Deluxe Edition Soundtrack

Into the Woods

I’ve yet to see this movie but the soundtrack is fabulous.  The soundtrack is a two-disc set.  The first disc has 34 songs; while the second disc holds 16.  The songs are captivating and will bring you into the storyline.  Now I must see the movie!

Frozen The Songs

Frozen

My first experience with Frozen was seeing Disney On Ice Frozen.  I hadn’t been to the movie and wasn’t sure what to expect.  Well, I left the show singing Let It Go and Do You Want to Build a Snowman?.  I thoroughly enjoyed the show.  Hearing the 10 songs on the soundtrack after a month after seeing the show, just brought me back to the show.

DJ Shuffle 2

Disney Jr. DJ Shuffle 2

The Disney Junior DJ Shuffle 2 consists of 26 songs and 3 bonus karaoke instrumentals.  Songs from the shows Doc McStuffins, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Sofia the First, Sheriff Callie’s Wild West, and Henry Hugglemonster.  Though we don’t have little ones in our home, we enjoyed listening to the soundtracks of what is “in” today.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy

Now, again I have not seen this movie, but most certainly want to after hearing the soundtrack consisting of 12 songs.  This soundtrack brought me back in time – way back to when I was growing up as a teen (nearly 40 yrs. ago!)  Song #1 is Hooked on a Feeling – a huge hit when I was a teen!  Song #2 is Go All the Way – another huge hit in my younger days.  In fact, 98% of the soundtrack took me back 40 yrs ago!  There’s just no going wrong with this soundtrack if you grew up in the 70’s.  Love it. Love it. Love it!  And should you not – you may just be like my teen and fall in love with songs from the past.

Purchase Now

Should you want these soundtracks now – you can purchase them at the new Disney Music Emporium. These would make a great addition to an Easter Basket, as a birthday gift, or just because gift.

Alternatively – you can take a chance at being the winner in the Hop to the Music Giveaway! Open to those in the US.

Guest of Honor – Oogie Boogie

We were so excited to be selected to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration Villains Party.  We couldn’t wait to get our kit so we could start planning.  The kit came and the teens were all too excited on prepping for the event.

The kit we received had a lot of cool things from Disney and other sponsors.  We thank the many sponsors who helped make our party a great success!

Items included:

  • HP Photo Paper and Envelopes
  • Twinning Teas supplied us with two boxes of tea
  • All Mighty Pacs
  • Wisk Deep Clean
  • Paper Supplies (plates, napkins, cups)
  • Mickey Mouse Cake Pan
  • Rainbow Cake Mix
  • Table & Party Supplies
  • Villains Puzzle
  • Bingo
  • Nail Painting Supplies
  • And a whole lot more!

I knew right away that the guest of honor would be The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Oogie Boogie.  My teen cannot get away from that movie or Jack.  Her cousin is infatuated with Oogie Boogie.

A table was set up to display many of the sponsor’s items.  We gave goodie bags of these items to the guests.

The girls had made Oogie Boogie Rice Krispie Treats – but oh dear – they came out hard as rocks.  So instead of eating them, we displayed them on the table.  We had just gone to see Disney On Ice’s Frozen – somehow he made his way to the table too!

Jack had to come to our event and he did in a rather big way.  The teen’s comforter came out of her room and hung over the TV.  We used this as a picture station.

As you can see – Maleficent joined the party!  And a picture cannot be taken without funky faces happening (honestly, I don’t get that)!

We had lots of food at the event and stations set up to do the fun projects included in our kit.

What would a villain’s party be without lots of green or a Mickey Mouse cake?   From octopus hotdogs (the coolest things I’ve made in a long time!), Mickey Mouse Rainbow Cake, green punch, green punch with worms, Oogie Boogie cupcakes, potato chips, cocktail dogs in sauce, coffee, tea and much more.

Many people filtered in and out of our home to be a part of the #DisneySide @Home Celebration party

The nail painting activity was a huge hit with the girls.  With using black, green and purple polishes – designs were made on the nails.

And then our party ended.  And, in not such a good way long before we could play bingo, or make our bracelets, or do the other activities.

You see, the little girl that joined our party touched our dog on her hind end when she was looking to get food from another party-goer.  In doing so, the dog bit her.  Our dog has never been known to be aggressive like that – so her doing what she did –  blew my mind. Let this be a lesson where one just never knows what a dog will do – even when not at their food dish.

Luckily the little party-goer wasn’t hurt badly – minor bleeding, but it was a rather traumatic event.  Traumatic enough that everyone’s attention was off the party.

Despite our setback – I know that everyone had a great time that came.  They enjoyed seeing what we put together for our Villain theme #DisneySide @Home Celebration.  They enjoyed the goodie bags and all the food that was to be had.

What does your family’s #DisneySide look like?

We’re Very Excited to be Selected to Show Our #DisneySide
Show Your Disney Side #DisneySide

By the end of February you will be able to read all about our #DisneySide Villain-themed @Home Celebration party.

When the news arrived in our email that we were selected to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration – well, let’s just say – we were beyond excited!

In not being able to curtail my excitement I just had to post it on my Facebook timeline. Family and friends found themselves to be excited right along with me – what a nice way to begin the new year. My niece immediately said – Oogie Boogie – he’s my favorite villain! Someone else commented – “how cool!” Another, had me explain to her what this all meant and then she found herself jealous.

That said, I want to take my guests through the years of what it was like when I visited Disney in Orlando, at the age of 25 years – for the first time ever. I’m now in my mid 50’s, and if I were told we’re going to Disney tomorrow – the excitement would be that of a child in a candy store.

It’s been my dream to go back but with my daughter this time. I had hoped for it to be when she was small; but now that she’s a teen, I think she and I would have more fun than ever. All I know is that no matter what, I want to be the one she goes with the very first time she goes.

So stay tuned for updates. We’ll be receiving a kit to help host our #DisneySide @Home Celebration. When it arrives I’ll be letting you take a peek at what’s in it!

If you’re not on our email list to receive updates – you can sign up now so that you don’t miss an update on our #DisneySide @Home Celebration.

Have you been to Disney? What was your most favorite memory that you were left with?

Delivery Man

Walt Disney Presents the Delivery Man Starring Vince Vaughn!

Delivery Man

That’s right!  Coming this November (2013) Walt Disney’s the Delivery Man is coming to theaters near you!  My fifteen year-old watched a clip of the movie with me and she can’t wait to see it – and honestly, neither can I.

About the movie:

In the film, Vince Vaughn plays an affable underachiever looking for his purpose in life, when he finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them want to meet their biological father.

And to rev you up, for what I believe is going to be a great flick, check out this newly released trailer (7/2/13):
