Almondina Toastees Review & Giveaway

An All Natural – Twice Baked – Almond Crisp

Back in 2014, we reviewed Almondina All Natural Gourmet Biscuits. We loved those as much as we do their newest product we, Almondina Toastees – Toasted Almond Thins.

We had the pleasure of trying the three flavors you see in the image.  Each one had their own distinct taste. The flavors were subtle and when consumed with a cup of coffee – just the right balance of texture.

About Almondina

The Almondina® All Natural Gourmet Biscuits recipe has been passed down from generation to generation, finally making its product appearance in the market in 1989.  Have you ever heard of Yuval Zaliouk?  He is a world renowned musical conductor.  Now, and for the past two decades – he has been the owner of Almondina.  It was his grandmother, Dina, who originally named these biscuits the Petit Gateau Sec.  Once Yuval Zaliouk began his mission to market the biscuits he renamed them, Almondina – after his grandmother.

The Almondina company is based in Ohio and his Almondina Biscuits are sold in all 50 states as well as several foreign countries.  Almondina distribution has expanded and is now readily available at stores such as Fairway, Hy Vee, Giant Eagle, Brookshire, Mollie Stone’s, Hannaford, Jewel, Whole Foods, The FreshMarket, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Cost Plus World Market, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and many others. You can see their complete distribution using their store finder.

Our favorite was the coconut orange almond. Considering cranberry isn’t something we eat other than at Thanksgiving – and then the cranberry sauce has to be jellied rather than whole berries – I was amazed at how these almond thins tasted.  The flavor was not over-powering.  The texture the berries added to the almond thin was very much a pleasure – they added a tad bit of chewiness to the almond thin.  The sesame almond was a favorite of the adults.  One flavor we didn’t get to experience is the Lemon Poppy Almond. That said, I can’t imagine that they aren’t just as delicious as the rest.

Here’s a plateful of each of the different Almondina Toastees we experienced.  Might I just add the plate was left on the table for the taking and it was empty before I knew it…oh those little hands 🙂

Why We Like Almondina Toastees Almond Thins

  • They are made with all-natural ingredients – with no added salt.
  • They aren’t too thick
  • They are crispy and crunchy
  • The balance of flavors are perfect
  • There are many ways that they can be served.  They can be eaten alone, with a cup of coffee or tea, crunched up as an ice cream topping, with cheese or hummus (or a spread of the like)
  • They come in a re-closable bag that actually closes easily.
  • They are low in fat and calories
