I do 98% of my shopping online (no groceries).  Last Christmas I racked up $44.78 in my Mr. Rebates account for clicking just through their site.  I racked up some money in my ebates account too, but they automatically will send it to you, and Mr. Rebates doesn’t.

Since January, Mr. Rebates has sent me an email telling me how much I have in my account, and give me the option of leaving it there, or cashing out on it.  I have been pondering over cashing it out for the past two months. In one way, I would like the money in my PayPal account now, but if I wait until September/October to cash in, the money wouldn’t get spent and I could use it towards Christmas gifts.  I know if I take the money out now, I will spend it as fast as I put it in there…shopping online.

Okay…writing this has actually helped me make a decision.  I know Mr. Rebates isn’t going anywhere in the near future, so I think I will let the money sit there and continue to accrue more money from my online shopping (I have many bday’s coming up) and when fall comes around then cash out.  I like the idea of having a $60 – $70 deposited just before Christmas…it will help with the anxiety I experience when I go to spend money for Christmas.  Besides, it’s not like I’ve missed it up until now…it’s actually a bonus….and that amount wouldn’t make me any money in a savings account (to speak of) with todays interest rates.

Final decision…it sits there until fall….although, I just had this terrible thought…what if I were to die before getting to use that money?  That would be such a waste!  I think I’ll go to bed and sleep on it.

A while ago, I posted an article on how black salve has saved me literally hundreds of dollars in Vet bills.  If you missed that post, you can read it here. Today I would like to share with you another remedy you may find helpful during one of your fur baby’s lives…and all for the cost of a black tea bag and water.

Have you ever had a kitten or a cat with an eye full of gunk?  I have had a couple over the past few years.  And, I have successfully cured the cat’s eye issue without a vet visit.  How do I do this, you ask…well…I simply steep a cup of black tea.

You can do this too, in a matter of a few simple steps:

  • Steep a cup of black tea
  • Let the tea cool to where it is warm (you don’t want to burn the cat’s eye)
  • Using a washcloth or paper towel, dip an end into the warm tea…not wringing the tea completely out of the medium (towel/washcloth).
  • Gently wash the cat’s eye to remove as much gunk as you can.
  • Using a clean spot of your medium (towel/washcloth), dip it into the tea and squeeze 5-6 drops of tea on the eye.
  • Repeat these steps for 3-4 days, 3-5 times a day (I usually steep one cup of tea and warm it as I need to during the day).

Within a short few days you should notice the eye opening fully again and no gunk coming out of it.  If this isn’t the case, then it’s time to make a vet appointment.

Have a great day!

Okay, I have to admit I hate sorting through coupons and I detest organizing them.  That being said, there was a day in my life when I took hours to do this…hadn’t a care in the world at the time…but now life is much too busy…I could care less which I know is costing me.  I wish I could shop online, apply the coupon, have those items ready for me at the store, and be on my way to finish the daunting task…I am  dreaming…I doubt I’ll ever see something like this in my lifetime.

Then I came upon The Couponizer and learned this:

The entire 6 piece system includes:

  • The Couponizer® – 8″ x 5¼” booklet with 18 grocery coupon pockets, 4 generic
  • coupon pockets, 3 gift card/shopper loyalty sleeves, shopping pockets
  • Shopping List – 20 page tear off list pad with cardboard backing
  • CoupStacker – Pre-sorting mat color coded to match the system pockets
  • CoupTracker – 15 page spiral bound list pad with cardboard backing
  • Scissors – blunt tip
  • Carrying Bag – clear vinyl zippered bag
Okay…so now I wonder…would I be more organized?  Would I not hate the dreaded task?  Would I be a happier shopper at the grocery store when I am trying to find the coupons I know I have in my pouch…but search endlessly for, yet still can’t find them no matter how hard I look (I think my patience gets the best of me). I even have them sectioned out.  I don’t know…I might give this a whirl.  If I were to buy right now, I could get a free flashlight.  If nothing else, it would make a good gift for my mother…she loves stuff like this.
There’s also a free ebook to download for anyone who’s interested…The Couponizer’s Smart Guide to Savings.

I had the pleasure of attending my very first Monster Truck event with my daughter and her two friends. What and event…it was just amazing!  I had never seen monster trucks up close or in action and neither had my daughter.  Before the show was over…my daughter was asking me if we could go again.

The event started out with a Pit Party.  We were able to walk around and visit the drivers of each monster truck, obtain their autographs, and take pictures up close of the monster trucks.  All the drivers were personable and very engaging with the kids. The kids got to write on Chalkboard Chuck at the bottom of the chassis and on the tires.  Participating trucks included, Chalkboard Chuck, Star Marshal, Towasaurus Wrex, Stabilizer, Air Dog…Air Dog’s driver is a woman…how cool is that?  I really wanted to see her drive; however, the arena would not allow her to drive this time around.  It was heard through the grapevine this was due to her truck running diesel fuel.

The show included an entertainer…Porkchop.   Porkchop rode this bike that you would see a two year old on. He was too funny.  He wore different head pieces throughout the night, and even had a glove like Michael Jackson’s he wore as he danced to the song that has the moon walk.

Let the contests begin!  Okay…so mind you, I had no idea what to expect from these trucks.  I had no idea what the contests were all about.  I couldn’t begin to see how they would crush 2 rows of cars, with 5 cars in each row, given the amount of floor space. Well, one by one, the trucks took part in each contest.  By the end of the night…these cars were demolished…crushed…worth nothing other than to recycle the metal.  If I got it right…Big Foot won all of them…don’t mark my words though, but I heard ‘Big Foot’ several times when they announced the winners of the contests.  There was a ‘free for all’ segment of the show where the trucks just did what they wanted.  Then, we all witnessed the trucks taking turns at crushing one of their mother in laws car.  It was smooshed like a pancake!

I actually fell in love with the tow truck monster truck, Towasaurus Wrex owned and driven by Jeff Bursey. Why this monster truck? Because it’s different then the rest; and, I love different.  It’s the only tow truck monster truck in the world!  In meeting Jeff, I learned he was from Massachusetts, not far from the Tsongas Center.  He told me he hadn’t done a show since 1999 and found out about this event and decided to take part…that’s why he wasn’t in the booklet…that didn’t stop the kids from wanting his autograph though 🙂

Near the end of the show Porkchop asked if there were any kids ages 4-7 yrs. old in the audience who did NOT own a bike of any kind.  Once he found a child meeting the criteria, he brought him down on the floor.  He confirmed with this young boy how old he was and his name.  The boy said he was seven. His name was Jose.  He then confirmed with Jose if he owned a bike.  Jose said no.  Porkchop then asked Jose if he could ride a two wheeler.  Jose said no.  Porkchop had Jose get on the bike, and try to make a go of it.  Jose was having a bit of a time…not to worry though, Porkchop made it all okay.  By the time all was said and done, Porkchop announced to Jose the bike was his. Jose jumped around with joy.  Chills ran through my body…it was very touching to see a young boy who doesn’t own a bike be given one that’s been used in an event like this.

I almost forgot about the mascot of the Pit Party!
His head was the shape of a “BIG” tire.
And, I am very glad I wasn’t wearing that tire,as I can’t begin to imagine how his neck must have felt by the time he got that tire off!

We had a fabulous time at the Monster Truck Nationals.  If you get a chance to see them when they come to your area – it’s worth it. There next stop is  April 29 & 30 at the Tullio Arena in Erie, PA.

Okay, so I came across this website called Flirty Aprons. Their aprons are adorable! They sell aprons for women, men and children.  Imagine having an apron for you and your daughter that look alike…or you, your daughter and your mother…how cool would that be?  Throw one in for dad too (since you can save 20% now)…give that to him for Father’s Day with some new utensils for the grill…then have him cook you a Father’s Day dinner :-).

Personally, I really could use one of these aprons, as I am far from a careful person when I cook or clean up the kitchen.  I ruin more shirts than one can imagine when I do the dishes.  Not happening though…I just can’t be bothered with an apron. Right now you can purchase these aprons and use the coupon code 20M2011, which is good through 5/10/2011, you’ll receive 20% off all aprons.

I’ve come across a toolbar just for recipes called TotalRecipeSearch.  I’ve installed it on my Firefox Browser as it only works with IE (which keeps crashing on me) and with Firefox.  I am always looking for new ideas for dishes…I get bored easily w/food, so I think I will like this toolbar a lot.  Give it a try…you can always uninstall it if you don’t find it useful.

This toolbar is pretty cool.  One can search for a recipe, see the Daily Recipe from Food Network, and there are buttons for: New Recipes, Healthy Meals, and Desserts.  There’s a button that shows what the weather is right on the toolbar.

Unfortunately, like I said earlier, the toolbar only works with Firefox and Internet Explorer….{Get the toolbar here}
